Our work is grounded in best practices and research-based approaches, ensuring that every training, consultation, and clinical service we provide is both effective and trauma-informed.
Daisy Schuurman
With over 20 years of experience advocating for exploited children and victims of crime, Ms. Schuurman brings a unique blend of frontline expertise, policy influence and training leadership. Her work has included briefing federal congressional offices, senior policy staff, state officials, and national human rights organizations on child maltreatment, commercial sexual exploitation, and best practices.
Ms. Schuurman has designed and facilitated advanced training programs and seminars to equip professionals providing direct services in this field both locally and nationally.

Contributions include offering a first responder’s perspective to federal policy development, notably the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act, signed into law in 2016 as well as co-authoring the policy document Child Sex Trafficking in the United States: Identifying Gaps and Research Priorities from a Public Health Perspective.
Currently, Ms. Schuurman oversees the Child Advocacy Center’s Child Exploitation Team-a program she developed to strengthen the Center's response to child trafficking. In this role, she coordinates with multidisciplinary partnerships and oversees the identification, intervention and management of trafficking and exploitation cases within the CAC framework.
Dawn Scaff
Nurse leader and educator with over 24 years of experience in pediatrics and 18 years as a forensic nurse supervisor. Holding a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and SANE-P certification, Ms. Scaff served as a nurse supervisor, adjunct faculty, expert witness, and national speaker- bringing both clinical expertise and leadership insight to diverse audiences.
Her work extends far beyond the healthcare setting. She has developed and delivered training to law enforcement agencies nationally (both local/federal), social services, attorneys, judges, medical professionals, and non-profit organizations equipping them with practical knowledge in sexual assault/forensic examinations, trauma-informed care/interventions, anti-child exploitation and advocacy.
As an expert witness, she provides critical testimony that bridges the gap between medicine and the legal system. Ms. Scaff served on multiple advisory boards and interdisciplinary task forces to assist in guiding program development, best practices, and organizational strategies.
Skilled in program and training development, interdisciplinary collaboration, mentoring, and coaching she is passionate about driving excellence in professional growth and strengthening teams. Ms. Scaff has guided teams through complex cases and built programs that make a lasting impact.
